Becoming A Virtuoso Of Glamour Images
As an aspiring photographer, one needs to know what “glamour image” means, as there is a huge range of definition about glamour images. Nude and sexually appealing photographs do not equal glamour ones. Sure, Glamour Images are frivolous and naughty, yet even though they are erotic, there is no room for pornography. In fact, there should be some aesthetics in glamour images and there should be art, romance and sexiness amalgamated altogether in a creation of an effective glamour image. As an aspiring glamour photographer, one should have the knowledge and understanding of several things like equipment, shot types, background, lighting, etc, and a photographer should be inspiring to make the model feel at home to give a perfect shot.
A regular set of glamour photographer’s equipment includes many things, from lighting pieces to different lenses and backdrops. However, amateurs and aspiring photographers do not have the comfort of having all those expensive equipment, so one can borrow or start as assistant in learning the skills of handling the equipment. If you observed beauty photographs before, you must have noticed that vertical format dominates, creating some daring concept which is a counterweight to common and smooth horizontal one. Moreover, if you look at the physical appearance of human beings, the face as well as the whole figure is vertical.
Background and entourage are other factors influencing the viewer’s perception of your glamour images. Glamour images are focused on the model and not the background so some photographers tend to ignore the background, however, a good photographer should always give extra attention by choosing a background that is in sharp contrast to the model or the attire. It shouldn’t be cluttered but rather solid. Props, even though they do not make the shot, sometimes prove beautiful adornments. For a beach photo you could use some typical objects as your props that fall well into the context – say, a surfboard.
If we detach from all the technical background that an artist should possess for the sake of being successful in Glamorous Photography, it leaves us with the most important skill of all, which is light manipulation. Photography is only possible due to light, and in glamour images it cannot be over-estimated. It comes from various sources, both human-made and natural, and it takes great skill to bend it to your artistic will; yet when you harness it, you can be called a true genius of glamour photography.
